Liabilities, Agreements & Expectations
Welcome to Let’s Talk Dogs. These Terms & Conditions outline how this website and our services are intended to be used. By accessing this website or booking services, you agree to the following terms.
Liability & Legal Protections
Assumption of Risk
Dog training involves inherent risk. Dogs are animals and may behave unpredictably, including biting, scratching, lunging, or causing injury or damage. Training may involve exposure to new environments, people, dogs, and equipment. By participating in training services, clients voluntarily assume all risks associated with working with dogs.
Owner Responsibility
Clients are responsible for their dog’s behavior at all times, including during training sessions and outside of training. This responsibility includes any injury, damage, or loss caused by the client’s dog to people, other animals, or property.
No Guarantees
Dog training results are not guaranteed. Progress depends on many factors including consistency, environment, genetics, lifestyle, and owner follow-through. Let’s Talk Dogs does not guarantee specific outcomes, timelines, or behavior results.
Health & Veterinary Disclaimer
Let’s Talk Dogs is not a veterinary service and does not diagnose or treat medical conditions. Any health or medical concerns should be addressed by a licensed veterinarian. Clients are responsible for ensuring their dog is healthy and appropriately vaccinated prior to participation in training services.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Let’s Talk Dogs is not liable for injuries, damages, or losses resulting from participation in training services or use of this website, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct.
Right to Refuse or Discontinue Services
Let’s Talk Dogs reserves the right to refuse, decline, or discontinue services at any time for safety, ethical, or practical reasons.
Client Agreements & Responsibilities
By booking services or participating in training with Let’s Talk Dogs, clients agree to the following responsibilities:
Client Participation
Successful training requires active participation from the client. Consistent practice, follow-through, and application of training guidance outside of scheduled sessions are essential for progress.
Honesty and Disclosure
Clients agree to provide accurate and complete information about their dog, including any known behavior concerns such as aggression, bite history, reactivity, or prior training challenges. Failure to disclose relevant information may result in services being declined or discontinued.
Handling and Management
Clients are responsible for managing their dog safely at all times, including the use of appropriate equipment and adherence to trainer instructions during and outside of sessions.
Training Tools and Methods
Training may involve the use of leashes, collars, place boards, long lines, and other tools when appropriate. All tools are selected and used thoughtfully and humanely to support clear communication and learning.
Responsibility Outside of Training Sessions
Let’s Talk Dogs is not responsible for a dog’s behavior outside of scheduled training sessions. A dog’s environment, routine, and handling play a significant role in long-term success.
Scheduling and Policy Compliance
Clients agree to comply with scheduling, cancellation, payment, and attendance policies as outlined during booking or in signed agreements.
Professional Boundaries
Clients agree to treat trainers with respect and to follow safety guidelines during all interactions. Services may be declined or discontinued if policies are not followed or if safety concerns arise.
Training Expectations & Reality Checks
Dog training is a process, not a one-time event. The following expectations help set realistic goals and support long-term success.
Progress Is Not Linear
Dogs will have good days and challenging days. Regression, plateaus, and fluctuations in behavior are normal and do not mean training is failing.
Training Builds Skills, Not Perfection
Training focuses on teaching communication, structure, and skills. Even well-trained dogs may still need management, reminders, and continued practice in real-life situations.
Consistency Matters
Consistency in handling, routines, and expectations plays a major role in training success. Inconsistent rules or practice can slow progress or create confusion for the dog.
Environment Affects Behavior
A dog’s behavior is influenced by stress, distractions, maturity, environment, and lifestyle. Changes at home or in routine can temporarily impact behavior and training outcomes.
Training Requires Ongoing Effort
Training does not end when sessions are completed. Continued practice and reinforcement are necessary to maintain progress over time.
Results Vary by Dog
Every dog is an individual. Learning speed, behavior change, and long-term results vary based on the dog and the level of owner participation.
